My Spotify Year in Music

According to Spotify, my most played artist is: Bob Dylan. There’s a surprise.
Their categories are odd. This is the breakdown.
I’ve listened to: 30% Folk Rock; 21% Singer-Songwriter; 17% Merseybeat (what?); 17% British Invasion; 17% Folk.

My most played this year (with Last FM) has been Olly Murs, Passenger and The Script. All time plays are:

Pet Shop Boys-612

My Chemical Romance-442

Annie Lennox-363

Stereophonics-333

Genesis-292

Surprisingly Bob is only 134th out of 389 artists.
I don't think I listened to 389 artists!
This is is a new one from Spotify, I've never had anything like it before.

Doesn't anyone play classical music these days? I wouldn't know Pet Shop Boys if they bit me ... all pop groups (sorry, 'bands' although I always thought bands played musical instruments and now some boy bands just sing, or what passes for singing today)sound much the same to me and when there is some youngster blaring out on TV, screaming into a mike which is almost pushed up its nose, I just grab the remote and hit Mute! Oh, I am an awful old codger, am I not? But give me Jessye Norman singing any day!

Re: music

I personally see no contradiction in loving Bach, Mozart AND Bob Dylan.

Off to do my daily piano practice: Beethoven.

Re: music

Yes, only joking ... I love Elvis and Sinatra and Andy Williams and Neil Diamond, but never took to the Beatles or Bob Dylan. Preferred the music of Abba to the Beatles (but not their ourfits! But really prefer classical - Strauss's Four Last Songs, Mahler's 2nd Symphony, almost anything by Mozart, even some Britten (but in small doses). Not particularly keen on modern jazz but love the Temperence Seven!
