Booker Yawns
Booker shortlist is out. My only interest in the Booker is that every single year, without having read any of the titles, I correctly predict which one will win and then wish I'd nipped down to the bookie's. Of this year's offerings, the two I would actually like to read are The Clothes on Their Backs and The Northern Clemency so I should cross those two off your list of potential winners right now.
I see the 2008
Would it be Steve Toltz perhaps? Someone who likes those very American, epic, over-the-top books that I hate (yes, John Irving, I mean you) was raving about him in my TV guide. (NB I know Toltz is an Australian.)
I've never read any John Irving. Should I be proud of this?
