The Curious Nectarine

Am I the last person to discover Donut Nectarines?

I saw them for the first time at the market yesterday. They were highly recommended by another customer so I bought some and they really are delicious.

Oddly enough, I ran into them for the first time yesterday at a market myself. Do they taste different to the usual nectarines? I didn't pick any up but I will have to if I see them again because I am quite intrigued!

Re: *wanders in from friends friends*

The flesh is white and quite firm. I'd say they're less sweet and certainly less drippy than regular nectarines but with a very good flavour.

Re: *wanders in from friends friends*

If they are firmer, less sweet and less drippy, might they just be less ripe? I have seen them on sale, but dismissed them as a marketing gimmick so I've never actually tried one.

Re: *wanders in from friends friends*

No, they really are different. An unripe nectarine is hard to eat but these aren't. They were cheap enough to risk a trial!
I don't think they've hit the Borders yet - I will look out for them though.
It was my first sighting. The market guys buy from wholesalers and the nectarines were Spanish.
I love them!
Never heard of them! They look amazing.
