Cheap thrills

It was on the news this morning that the late spring means a shortage of daffodils. Really? They're still a pound a bunch from Tesco's, so you can have LOTS.

Have you noticed they're shorter, though?
True!
I'm glad I don't make a living growing daffs for supermarkets. What can the growers get paid?

Late daffs

Late they may be, but surely the same amount of daffs are still there, they've just not bloomed yet? Surely the growers will be able to sell them once they have come into what Derek Tangle in his Minack Chronicles called "the pencil stage."

Re: Late daffs

The newsmongers meant 'late for Mothering Sunday' (as I insist on calling it).

daffs

Yes, I call it Mothering Sunday, too! Mother's Day is another American invention.
