I loved every second of yesterday evening's episode of New Tricks. Seldom has an hour passed more quickly. Not only was there the pleasure of watching JAMES BOLAM and the rest of the team; it was all about books. The Unsolved Crimes unit was reinvestigating the murder of a university professor, which involved the theft of a valuable book. The writers managed several sideswipes at: universities as degree factories, students who downloaded their essays from the internet, the abolition of libraries and the belief that 'books are history'. While the others were interviewing those involved, Brian (Alun Armstrong) got to spend a lot of time in the stacks at The London Library.
I'm so glad I recorded the programme. I understand that enjoying New Tricks is a sign of age. Any comments?
