Nature Watch: Six-Spot Burnet moth

210713insect1

The garden is full of butterflies and beasties at the moment. I saw this day flying moth on a clump of Stachys ‘Hummelo’. I’d no idea what it was and had to look it up.

Wow, every never seen a moth like that before. Well spotted (excuse the pun!). Nice photos :)
There's another (or the same?) one out this morning on a different plant. Every time I go out of the kitchen door clouds of small butterflies fly up but I'm not hot on identifying them. I think they might be some sort of Skipper.

My camera is nothing special, but the creature kept obligingly still and I was quite pleased with how the photos came out.
My failure at identifying butterflies and moths is matched only by my failure to identify plants :)

I waited for ages to get that bee photo the other day. They just wouldn't sit still or in the right pose! very uncooperative of them :)
We get these on the dunes, it's always a pleasure to see them. Lovely photos of it.
They must be more common there. Certainly a pretty bug, as bugs go.
Wow!! Good photos, too.
Curious, eh?

Thanks!
That is such a beautiful little creature. Nature never ceases to amaze.
Always something new to learn about the natural world!
