A rare bargain

Like most people who are on the lookout for second-hand books, I’m always complaining that you don’t see old books around any more, just overpriced modern paperbacks. It’s weeks since I bought a book at the market or in a charity shop. But look what I came home with today. £5.00 the lot.

I'm especially pleased with the earlier ones, which I haven't read for ages. I could have bought a lot of the Penguin editions as well, but resisted.

Wow - what a find! They look to be in pretty good nick, too.
Yes, win! They are all in good nick except one. I guess with all the paperbacks as well it was someone's collection. Sad really but they've found a good home. They weren't priced and I was astonished when the bloke in the shop said, '50p each'.

First piece of book luck I've had for months. I'm looking forward to those cosy reads!
What a bargain. I can feel your pleasure at getting them :)
Thank you! I certainly am pleased.
Lovely!
A lucky find! I've just discovered I already have two of those books but at that price I'm not complaining.
Lovely! I do like Miss Read.
I'm on and off with her but I'm looking forward to reading these. I like to post about finds because it gives other people hope!

Fabulous Barbara! Gives us all hope - I've been getting them gradually on Kindle, but those are beautiful editions. Donna
Lucky me! As you know, I have nowhere to put them but I couldn't leave them in the shop.
