A Brave Show

When the cold spell started, these hellebores were already in flower but they lay down their heads on the ground and seemed to give up. Then they were buried under snow. As soon as the snow melted, up they popped again, like magic. It was wonderful to see primroses re-emerge, too; they must have been flowering away merrily under their cosy blanket.

Aww, lovely. My mother's favourite; Dad has planted them on her grave. She liked the dark red ones best.
I love them!
Such a nice idea of your dad's, as they will live forever.
I like them spotty :-)
I like the spotty ones too :)

It is a nice idea! He has planted them a bit wonky, which would make her fuss, but he tried.
How lovely, I'm glad they survived. We have some in the garden, I should go and look if they are in flower.
I was amazed that the stems had the strength to stand themselves up again.
It's milder today, so I guess you could venture out. :-)

So beautiful.

Thank you! They're still looking good in spite of the weather.
